Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- Your device's assigned IP address
- The referring website, when one is available
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device type
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files saved on a visitor's device. Along with analytics services, they help create aggregate measures such as popular pages and common exit points. You may block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so can change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining its performance
- Routing a search query to the selected partner service
- Measuring which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Guadalupe County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, local court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-record profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy, including its retention and sharing rules. Those practices are outside our control, so review the applicable provider policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Guadalupe County offices, Texas agencies, court portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow an external link, the destination's policy controls its handling of data. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be disclosed to:
- Advertising networks that serve ads on site pages
- Search providers that process a query you submit
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for information under our control. No internet-connected service is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Privacy rights vary with the law that applies to a request. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs access to public information held by government bodies, while Chapter 411 controls dissemination of criminal-history record information. Subject to any applicable exception, you may ask to:
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Obtain a copy of personal information held about you
- Opt out of certain forms of data processing
- Request deletion of your personal information
Updates to This Policy
